Rivals Create Big Buzz & Big Donations

We're always preaching big buzz. That's why the 2008 City of Hope Golf Classic caught our eye. The July 27-28 event benefiting the Tim Nesvig Lymphoma Fellowship & Research Fund is on pace to bring in a record amount of money this year. The annual event honors the memory of Tim Nesvig, son of Fox Broadcasting President of Sales Jon Nesvig, who died in 2005 at age 30 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This year's event unites rival television companies and executives from Fox, Tribune, DirecTV, Comcast and MTV. With all that broadcast buzz, the event is closing in on raising more than $4 million for City of Hope and the foundation over the past three years. Inspiring.

Any organization or small business can create a buzz. Email us at info@boostyourbottomline.com to discover how to create yours.

Rebuilding a Brand

Overcoming a negative impression is one tough battle. Whether a business, personality or event, negative impressions linger and become identified with a brand. That's why supporters of the Tour de France are working together to move beyond the doping scandals that have rocked the event the past few years. Leading the charge is VERSUS, the exclusive cable television home of the Tour de France, with their “Take Back the Tour” comprehensive, multi-media ad campaign. Created by New York City ad agency Concept Farm, the campaign champions the riders who compete clean, while giving a platform and a voice to the passionate fan base that supports them. The campaign includes three powerful on-air spots, viral films featuring current riders, several print ads, and a campaign-specific website featuring exclusive video, an area for fans to post their views on the current state of cycling, commercial spots and print advertising, as well as information about VERSUS’ television coverage of the Tour. It's a good campaign that is necessary as teams, athletes and sponsors strive to re-establish the Tour as the premier cycling event. We'd like to see the Tour recapture that solid brand identity. That's why we applaud the multi-media campaign and all the athletes embracing the challenge. Find out more about the campaign at http://www.takebackthetour.com

America Votes for Real Contest

With the U.S. presidential campaign season in full swing, Denny’s, America’s iconic dining chain, is riding on the campaign coat tails for big buzz. Denny's is asking consumers from coast to coast to submit their best impersonations of the 2008 Presidential candidates for the chance to win one free meal a month for a full Presidential term. Denny’s “America Votes for Real” contest encourages anyone who feels they look like, sound like, or just vaguely resemble the Arizona or Illinois senators running for U.S. President in 2008 to submit their best video impersonations online. Video submissions should feature the Denny’s “Real Breakfast” message and will be accepted from July 8 - 31 at www.youtube.com/group/Vote4Real. Once the video is uploaded, consumers should fill out an entry form, including the video URL, online at http://www.vote4real.com. Very clever tie in and big buzz idea.

Taking Tech to the Tourists

It's tourism season and small businesses around the world are trying to pull travelers in. Chris Wilson is convinced that his innovation will make it easier for the Cape Cod tourist industry. His innovation: a podium that looks something like a large, sturdy drum and sports yellow and black lettering that reads "Whipkick: Just ask us." It is just wide enough to allow a person to climb atop it and stand a few feet above the crowd. As many as 20 podiums will be scattered across the Cape at locations such as beaches, downtown Hyannis, or any other place likely to experience high levels of foot traffic, and Whipkick employees with be available to provide assistance. The 24-year-old founder of the company thinks it will transform marketing by aligning businesses around "a brand of quality and something neat in the local area." Sounds like a good hook and collaboration among many businesses. We'll watch to see how it all shakes out.

Need help developing a brand campaign that stands out from the crowd? We can help. Dash us an email at info@boostyourbottomline.com and share your challenge.
