Britta & The Biggest Loser Create Marketing Partnership to Change the World

This is a cool marketing partnership…and good for the environment!

This season, “The Biggest Loser” has partnered with Brita’s FilterForGood campaign to eliminate bottled water from the campus. And Brita has partnered with Nalgene to create the FilterForGood pledge. The goal: reduce the 38 billion plastic water bottles that end up in landfills each year.

According to author David Bach in his book Go Green, Live Rich, Go Green, Live Rich, carrying your own water bottle will save $500/year while helping to reduce environment waste. We’ve been advocating this exact action in our 90-day, community-based Walk the Talk Today! campaign.

Take the pledge! It's a simple commitment to reduce your personal waste by giving up bottled water, even if it's just a few days each week. Together, filtered water and a reusable bottle are an ideal solution for going green at home, at the gym, and on the go. Visit FilterForGood.com and pledge to give up bottled water. It's an easy change that can make a big difference.

Time for a Business MakeOver?

Slumps happen. And although there can by any number of reasons a small business owner falls into a slump, the important part is finding a way out. Here are two ways to focus your efforts and get back on track.

1. Become the early bird

Granted, a lot of slumps happen because small business owners feel burnt out, but there’s a clear difference between working hard and working smart. Part of working smart could be getting into the office an hour earlier to organize your day, set out exactly what you want to accomplish (on paper) and strategize about how to accomplish your goals. This way you avoid getting distracted by meetings, phone calls or other interruptions.

2. Change the environment

A lot of times, a small business owner's workspace can be a reflection of his/her motivation. Shake it up! Re-organize everything in your workspace, create order out of chaos, add a plant, or replace old pictures on the wall with new, inspiring ones.

Once you shake things up, you may realize it's time to revamp your business approach. Find out how with our Business Boost In A Box . You'll learn real-life strategies and proven income-boosting methods that get results.

Journaling Workshop Scheduled for Small Biz Owners

The power of the written word is incredible. Whether free writing, making lists or developing full-blown marketing plans, we’ve seen again and again that writing “it” down will make “it” happen. Experts say that simply writing down goals and dreams greatly increases the likelihood of actually achieving them.

Many of the most popular speakers on the motivational circuit tout journal writing as one of their best-kept secrets to success. Mark Victor Hansen, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, says, “By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be."

Now small business owners can learn powerful journaling techniques to boost clarity, focus and results. During a 4-hour Journal to the Self workshop from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 at Pinehurst Inn B&B in Bayfield, Wisc., participants will experience eight techniques they can use again and again. Find out more here. To register for the upcoming workshop, email leslie@boostyourbottomline.com or call 715/682-5824.

Starting Tuesday! Guerrilla Marketing Crash Course Helps Small Businesses Facing Tough Times

We've been invited to team up with Jay Conrad Levinson, the Father of Guerrilla Marketing, and Mitch Meyerson, the Founder of Guerrilla Marketing Coaching, for an eight-week marketing series for small business owners facing tough economic times.

Beginning Tuesday, April 8, Levinson and Meyerson will host Guerrilla Marketing in Tough Times, an intensive crash course that includes eight one-hour, interactive teleclasses with Levinson and Meyerson and eight one-hour, interactive coaching sessions with us and five other Certified Guerrilla Marketing Coaches.

We will share proven tactics to attract and keep new customers, unleash clear and actionable strategies, generate additional passive and active revenue streams, and develop a solid measurable system for creating sustainable results.

"Each class will incorporate a combination of rich content and interactivity designed to help small business owners sharpen their skills and fully integrate the theory and practice of Guerrilla Marketing," Meyerson said. "We'll set up accountability partner relationships, and we'll share the latest success resources for creative and profitable Guerrilla Marketing in tough times."

Levinson said marketing in a challenged economy requires knowing where to focus time and energy. This crash course teaches this focus on big impact on a small budget.

In addition to coaching from Levinson and Meyerson, we (and our colleagues) will share a treasure-trove of marketing tactics complete with action steps to help small business owners weather the most rugged times.

Brandstorm Competition Hits the Mark with Concept, Website, Graphics & Models

We're always advocating contests and competitions as one way to garner big buzz, and here's one that stands out. L'Oreal is spearheading a Brandstorm Competition appealing to college students who want to take on the role of marketing brand manager and revamp an existing L'Oreal brand. Applicants must create a team of 3, all from the same university. Teams will put themselves in the shoes of a L'Oreal brand manager, analyze consumer trends and market evolutions, develop an original marketing strategy, work with a renowned advertising agency, and create a product, packaging and communication campaign. The best team will win a trip to Paris to present to top L'Oreal executives. Sounds like a blast! In 2007 the campaign attracted more than 17,000 college students from 170+ campuses. L'Oreal knows something that all savvy business owners know…that to stay alive, you HAVE to engage your target market to expand your base of loyalists. L'Oreal isn't just for your mom or grandma any more!
